End of The Week
It's Friday and at this moment I would be setting off to pick up some wine, and some nice beer to settle down with. Not today though. For the first 2 weeks, I am going dry.
My vow not to drink for the first 2 weeks every month is being tested to its limit. This week at work has been a bit of a grind. I had hoped there would be a slight improvement in the way we were working on our project. Any hope of that reset is being dashed somewhat. The mood music coming from the senior management is that the pressure is only going to get worse. I am going to have to grit my teeth and knuckle down for the bumpy ride. I am trying not to write about this particular project that I am on. I fear I will end up in hysterical rant mode if I did. I am trying to keep this space as a place of tranquil creativity. See how long that lasts will we?
I have been contemplating sharing some of my early attempts at writing with other people. A few years back I attempted a Nanowrimo and managed to spew out 55k of a jumbled mess of a story. I did share this with a member of my family who is actually a proper award-winning author. I was not expecting anything back. I got shocked when my ramblings returned with detailed notes and suggestions. The comment though was there was more than one novel in there somewhere.
I did join Edinburgh's SFF discord channel, I have been lurking on there for over a year now. People on there are helpful to each other. It is actually putting yourself out there and showing the writing is a scary thought. I know you have to get critical feedback to get better. I am either going to have to jump in the deep end or just dip my toe. That is something I need to figure out soon. Otherwise, I will do my usual procrastination and do nothing. This is after all my year of "Doing Things.."
If you are boozing enjoy! I am away to get a non-alcholic beer or two.
